Max Planck Institute for Chemistry

The new building of the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry is located at the western edge of the university site in the direct vicinity of the already existing Institute for Polymer Chemistry. Here, in the heterogeneous structural environment, the clear structural form of the new building was to make a mark in the transition to the area of the future university of applied sciences and the existing scientific commercial buildings. Earth-colored brick tiles vary in the shades "sand", "beige" and "salmon" and were combined in different heights and lengths in a random pattern to underline the character of geological naturalness; in this unusual line-up they were mounted on horizontal support profiles in a correspondingly economical manner.
