Institute of radiochemistry

The materiality of the existing clinker brick masonry should be adopted again in the reconstruction and renovation of the Institute of Radiochemistry, without slipping into an architectural past. Accordingly, architects Golling + Preiss from Munich decided on a modern tile facade with rainscreen cladding and in particular the LONGOTON® vertical execution. The colors of this modern ceramic cladding are approximated to the brick masonry of the existing building in that the four natural beige and red shades – amber, pink, light red and terracotta yellow – were mixed accordingly in their percentage proportions with a particular focus on ensuring that tiles of the same color are never directly beside or above each other.
