Bayerischer Landtag extension building

The high heat-insulated facades of the extension building of the Bayerischer Landtag are cladded with profiled ceramic tiles and produce, in combination with the glazing flush with the facades, the sculptural presence of the structure. Despite the monochromacity of the ceramic material in terracotta beige, two relief joints with different widths, arranged in an alternating rhythm on the tile surface give rise to a random-seeming, lively and nuanced appearance. This effect is supported by the use of ceramic tiles in three different heights (20, 50 and 80 cm) that have been distributed across the surface in a seemingly random order.
