Graphic composition for a creative hotspot

05. Sep 2024

The Makers District on Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi is set to quite literally rise above the norm. This area is being developed into a creative hotspot, conceived as a counterpoint to the typical residential and commercial buildings found locally. Within sight of the cultural melting pot with its groundbreaking architecture on the neighbouring Saadiyat Island, a new high-rise complex has been completed by the internationally renowned Dutch firm MVRDV. The project’s name speaks for itself: ‘Pixel’. The classical cuboid form of the seven high-rises is fragmented in a pixelated style, breaking down into small, colourful cubes that converge towards a central plaza. This design flourish is accentuated by elements from MOEDING. Façade sections are adorned with innovative brick screens in 14 pastel shades, defining a distinctive character and subtly referencing the site’s history.

Residential Area Saint-Denis

05. Jun 2024

In Saint-Denis, north of Paris, an attractive, durable, inclusive and resilient urban building block was developed. The local authorities explicitly requested ceramic facades for the design of the outer shells due to their sustainable and durable properties. The most striking building F1 in area A2 impresses with ceramic panels in a special shape. The special glaze in transparent black ensures that different reflections can always be seen on the facade depending on the incidence of light and sunlight.

Sustainability and purism

16. Feb 2024

The new corporate headquarters for Enercity in Hanover is currently the largest passive house in northern Germany. The architects from haascookzemmrich STUDIO 2050 translated the energy service provider's approach to sustainability into purist architecture that is committed to communication and energy efficiency. The external appearance is characterized by ceramic tiles from MOEDING, which in turn underline the minimalist claim with a white glazed, grooved special design.

Layers of the city history

21. Sep 2023

A lively neighbourhood has developed for the city in the historic area of Bolands Quay thanks to the renovation of existing buildings and expansion by three new office towers. The planning included flats, restaurants, cafés and exhibition rooms, in addition to office space for the tech giant Google. For the characteristic new buildings, the architects chose a ceramic facade, glazed in three shades of red and two light shades of gray. They pick up on the materials used in the historical surrounding area and completely reinterpret them with exciting shapes and three-dimensional surfaces.

Great facade art in Manhattan

12. May 2023

The Chelsea district of New York has a new highlight in the form of the 28&7 high-rise office building right at the busy intersection of 28th Street and Seventh Avenue. The design by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill relies on a filigree, gridded glass façade whose window surfaces are framed with black ceramic profiles from MOEDING. The projecting frames are made up of two bowl-shaped ceramic elements based on the LONGOTON® system. Its three-dimensional structure is further enhanced by a specially developed colored glaze.

FUTURISTIC MIX

01. Mar 2023

The new building for the Business Development Center for Medical Technology in Mannheim impresses with its futuristic design. The building is comprised of almost 8,000 m² of flexibly-scalable space for offices and co-working areas, as well as five laboratories, clean rooms and workshops. Alphaton© panels with a special white glaze chosen by the architect were manufactured for the cube.

Ceramic and glass encase The 105 in Boston

31. Oct 2022

MOEDING and the architects von Payette explored new avenues in facade design for a new building for biotechnology research in Boston, USA. Degrees of transparency, shape and color form a special triad that imperceptibly blurs the perception of the different materials and the building with its surroundings.

Cool roof meets design facade

26. Oct 2022

The ``Ekko`` residential complex is located on the eastern bank of the Garonne and has a total of 8,552 square meters of living space with a total of 49 apartments with up to five rooms. In order to maintain a harmonious overall picture, the architect chose a white ceramic facade combined with white clay roof tiles - both of which were specially made for this construction site by the sister companies Moeding and Erlus.

SURROUNDED BY HISTORIC CHARM

08. Jun 2022

With the residential and commercial building Korso, architect Martin Kohlbauer has added a charismatic new development to the urban development project Viertel Zwei in Vienna. Close to the famous Prater and in the immediate vicinity of the listed trotting course in Krieau, the heterogeneous residential complex fits into the newly designed urban environment. Façade bands made of ceramic panels in warm reddish-yellow tones are in the foreground - both literally and figuratively.

WITH A LOOK AT THE CONTEXT

01. Mar 2022

A special visual reference, respect for the surrounding architectural heritage and a facade with MOEDING ceramic elements that meets high design standards: the new building in Hamburg-Dulsberg provides space for a family center with a café, administration offices and three apartments for the SOS Children's Village families and thus becomes a meeting place and communication.
