The new southern combined heat and power plant in Leipzig is a construction milestone on the road to the heating transition. Instead of a former coal-fired power station, the site on Bornaische Strasse is home to a plant designed for a climate-neutral future. The planners at Atelier ST based their design on the existing listed buildings on the site and the small-scale urban neighbourhood. The result: a play of colours and facades made of clinker bricks and ceramics by the two specialists from GIMA and MOEDING, which - in line with the further developed content - gives the power plant typology a completely new face.
