Stadtwerke Ulm administration building
The breastwork of the new building of Stadtwerke Ulm is clad with a ceramic facade. For better integration into the architectural surroundings, the architects had specified a light shade of gray that was specially developed for this property. In addition to the appearance, this heat-insulated, rear-ventilated facade with rainscreen cladding essentially serves to provide additional heat protection. To prevent solar radiation that is too strong, an external ceramic slat system was developed with integrated daylight control. It protects from direct sunlight and nevertheless specifically allows daylight to penetrate the rooms. The shape and positioning of the individual elements within the system were chosen so that the slats would reflect the daylight in their upper area onto the room ceilings in such a way that natural exposure to light is ensured and nevertheless direct sunlight is prevented from penetrating into the interior.
