Quadram Institute

Norwich

Quadram Institute | Norwich

The Quadram Institute is an innovation centre for the advancement of food and health research. The building was designed by the architectural firm NBBJ in London, and the building shell was completed together with our UK partner James & Taylor. The innovative nature of the property is already visible from the outside through the striking facade design. The structure consists of two different building parts, which are connected by a large atrium and a skylight. The offices are located in the glazed area flooded with daylight with south-facing white glazed ceramic baguettes from MOEDING. The laboratory accommodation to the north is located in the area with the closed facade to promote energy efficiency and keep the laboratories at an optimum temperature. Classic MOEDING ALPHATON® panels, also glazed white, were used in this section. This creates the perfect symbiosis between the two sections in terms of both design and content.

“The extensive brick facade is inspired by traditional Norwich architecture and links the building to its surroundings. The dynamic and distinctly modern southern block, on the other hand, echoes the Quadram Institute’s research themes, such as cell structures and genome sequences, in its design.” Source: https://archello.com/project/quadram-institute
