IHK Niederbayern administration building

In the course of the facade renovation of IHK Passau, the architect and the client jointly decided on a permanent and sustainable solution. A rear-ventilated facade with rainscreen cladding and brick tiles now forms the building's new weather protection and gives the building an impressive and unmistakable appearance. For the sophisticated horizontal segmentation of the large-scale facade, architect Schmied developed a design for individually produced tiles with finger-wide grooves. In intensive coordination and close cooperation with MOEDING, the architects chose the shade titanium gray from the extensive color range. The natural surface varies its appearance depending on the weather, assumes a darker color in the event of precipitation and gently reflects the surrounding light moods.

The new design of the facade also directly benefits the staff of the IHK. Thanks to the structure of the rear-ventilated facade with rainscreen cladding, dampness is reliably diverted and a pleasant, healthy indoor climate is produced. Additionally, the high-quality and unusually designed facade appearance with brick tiles ensures presence in the cityscape and contributes to the identification of the employees and the IHK members.
