With the construction of a new, modern multimedia house, the Academy of Music in Karlsruhe has obtained an additional attractiveness. The ceramic facades used here, mainly arranged in the external effect of the theatre and concert building, embody an art of work in themselves. Here, geometrical shapes, glaze and coloring – all planned and specified in detail by Architekten.3P Feuerstein Rüdenauer & Partner, Stuttgart – produce a design quality that unmistakably indicates the content aspirations of this building. For this, the ceramic brick tiles in a special format, fastened in a concealed manner, with installation-friendly dimensions of 25 cm in width and a height of 1.25 m, were manufactured in four different geometries.

Earth-colored shades and construction-material reminiscences of the neighbouring renaissance palace have been adopted and dominate the striking sections of the heat-insulated ceramic facades with rainscreen cladding.
